Eligibility Criteria to Appear in JEE Main 2027 Exam
Following is the eligibility criteria to appear in JEE Main 2027 exam. Every student must check eligibility before applying.
Age Limit: For appearing in the JEE (Main) – 2027, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2025, 2026, or appearing in 2027 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) – 2027 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.
This is very important – NTA has no age limit, but IITs, NITs may have their own age criteria. So check college wise.
Educational Qualification: Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2025, 2026, or those who are appearing in the Class 12/ equivalent examination in 2027, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2027.
Candidates who passed the Class XII / equivalent examination in 2024 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2027. So only last 3 years – 2025, 2026, 2027 batch can apply. If you passed in 2024, you are not eligible for 2027.
Minimum marks required – For general category, you need at least 75% in Class 12 or be in top 20 percentile of your board. For SC/ST, 65% required. But to appear in JEE Main exam, no minimum percentage required, but for admission in NITs, IIITs you need 75% criteria.
Subjects required – For BTech – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics compulsory in Class 12. For BArch – Mathematics compulsory. For BPlan – Mathematics compulsory.
State of Eligibility: State code of eligibility means the code of the State from where the candidate has passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination by virtue of which the candidate becomes eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2027. It is important to note that the State code of eligibility does NOT depend on the native place or the place of residence of the candidate.
For example, if a candidate appears for the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination from an Institution situated in New Delhi and is a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, then the candidate’s State code of eligibility will be Delhi and NOT Uttar Pradesh.
This State code is important for 85% state quota seats in NITs and for checking eligibility for state counseling.
